Storyboard Reflections

1. Which topic did you choose and why?
Our group chose Ping Pong Club because it is a unique category that seems like a fun thing to do at Peoria Notre Dame.

2. Which section were you in charge of and how did you decide who would work on what?

I was in charge of the overall layout of the presentation, most of the slides, most of the information, all of the pictures, and the works cited.

3. What skills did you use/learn in this project and how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation?

I learned how to work with a group on Google Docs to complete a project efficiently.

4. This was our first group project. Do you enjoy working in groups? What advantages do you see to working with others versus working alone? What disadvantages are there?

I enjoy working in groups, but only to a certain extent. It is usually easier to get a presentation done, but if your group consists of lazy students, most of the work gets put on one student. This makes it stressful on that student to get the work done, especially since group projects require more time and effort than individual projects.

My Interests Project

1. Which search terms did you use to find images (for the letters of your name and the images that describe you) and why?
I used "letter" search terms that were short and concise. I also put them in quotes to be able to narrow down search results to specific photos with those key words.

2. What skills did you use/learn in this project?
In this project, I used my creativity and picture-taking skills. I also learned how to use iPhoto to make a slideshow instead of just a gallery.

3. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation.
If i had to make a commercial in the future, this would be a basic building block. Making a professional photo gallery would also start at using these skills.

4. This was a more creative project than our first 2. Did you prefer it or the more cut and dry assignments in Word and Excel?
Yes, because it helps with learning by doing something more interactive than making basic spreadsheets. It is also more entertaining.

Charity Project Reflections

1. List the name of your business and its charity.
Business: Dave Matthews Band
Charity: Bama Works Fund

2. What skills did you use/learn in this project?

I learned how to quickly and efficiently use a mailing list from Excel, how to write a business letter, and how to format an Excel spreadsheet to implement well with Word.

3. What was the easiest part of this project? What was the most difficult part of this project?

The easiest part was bringing the mailing list into Word. It was so simple to do. The most difficult part was writing and formatting the business letter.

4. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation other than writing a charity letter.

I could use them to send wedding invitations, investment letters, and other business-related letters that require mass amounts of people to receive them.

5. Did you learn something new during this project that you did not know before?  If so, what?

Yes, I learned how to use Mailing Lists. They make it very east to send letters to many different people without effort.

M&M Project Reflections

1. What functions did your spreadsheet perform?
My spreadsheet added up the numbers and the total number of M&M's, and it also calculated the averages of each color of M&M's in the four recorded bags.

2. What skills did you use/learn in this project?

I used my organization skills, my math skills, and my computer skills in this project. It helped me fine-tune my knowledge of Excel.

3. Describe how you might use these skills and apply them to a real-world situation.

I might use these skills in the real world by preparing a business model and charts for sales and many other corporate needs.

My Expectations for this Class

In this class, I hope to broaden my knowledge of technology and applications by adding to what I already know. I already know many basic things about computers and I might be considered an expert in other areas. I know basic HTML, CSS, and other website-building languages. I also know a lot about music recording and performing software and I make songs in my free time. I have built three computers and know all the components and basics of computer hardware and software. I hope that in this class, being exposed to all of these applications will help expand my knowledge and even expose me to new things.
